640 million people! The number of fat people in the world exceeds that of thin people

From the thin to the fat, it seems “inadvertently”, but from the fat to the thin, it needs to go through “mountains and rivers”. The number of fat people in the world has surpassed that of thin people, the medical journal announced recently. Obesity has become the “majority”, which seems to make the way to lose weight more difficult.
The earth we live on has entered the “fat age”. According to a study published in the medical journal, after 40 years of trend research on the body mass index (BMI) of 19.2 million adults surveyed, scientists found that the number of obese people in the world has exceeded that of thin people.
The study, led by scientists at Imperial College London, showed that between 1975 and 2014, the obesity rate for men tripled and for women more than doubled. There are different clinical definitions of obesity in different regions and countries, but generally, BMI over 30 is regarded as obesity, over 35 as severe obesity, and less than 18.5 as underweight. The study of 186 countries found that over the past 40 years, the number of obese people in the world has risen from 105 million to 641 million, while the number of underweight people has risen from 330 million to 462 million. Over the same period, the global obesity rate rose from 3.2% to 10.8% for men and 14.9% for women. That’s the equivalent of 266 million men and 375 million women who are obese worldwide, the study said. At the same time, the proportion of underweight men fell from 14% to 9% and that of women from 15% to 10%. It is predicted that the global obesity rate will reach 18% for men and 21% for women in 2025.
Researchers at the London School of hygiene and Tropical Medicine collected and collated the medical records of 5.24 million Britons over the age of 16 and followed them for an average of 7.5 years. At the start of the study, none of the respondents had cancer. During the follow-up period, about 167000 people had cancer, involving 22 common types of cancer. The results showed that there were 10 kinds of cancer risk and BMI index were significantly related. The risk of uterine cancer, gallbladder cancer, renal cancer and cervical cancer increased by 62%, 31%, 25% and 10%, respectively. Obesity or being overweight also increases the risk of thyroid, leukemia, liver, colon, ovarian and breast cancer.
In fact, they also found this phenomenon in clinical practice, Wang Jinhua, deputy chief physician of gynecological oncology of Jiangsu Cancer Hospital, told reporters. For example, uterine cancer, in addition to family patients, other sporadic patients are mostly short and fat. Other cancers, such as breast cancer and colon cancer, are definitely associated with obesity. In addition, fat people are more likely to eat meat, and their dietary fiber is unbalanced, which increases the risk of colorectal cancer.
Of course, there is only one truth: keep your mouth shut and start your legs. Wu Ming, an expert in chronic disease prevention and control and deputy director of Jiangsu CDC, believes that any scientific way to lose weight is to help dieters change their existing bad living habits and form a good living habit, so as to achieve a healthy life. All the ways to lose weight are “persistence”. Moreover, they must be scientific and not excessive.
Fruit has dietary fiber, but fructose content is very high. Compared with starch food with the same amount of calories, fructose is absorbed very fast. When it comes to the body and enters the liver, it is very easy to convert into fat, which is not conducive to weight loss and will soon feel hungry. If you can’t control hunger, you will eat more, but it is easy to get fat.
Recently, a foreign study said that singing is as effective as yoga. Singing can relieve the depression and anxiety of the elderly, and improve the happiness of people of all ages. There are also studies that show that if the singing method is appropriate, it will consume a lot of physical strength and achieve the goal of weight loss just like doing sports. In response, Shen Jia, director of the prevention and treatment center of the second hospital of traditional Chinese medicine in Jiangsu Province, said that when people sing, they do exercise all over the body, just like doing aerobics.
Experts suggest that in daily life, singing can be adopted to keep fit, exercise breathing and cultivate an optimistic attitude. “Singing is a kind of aerobic exercise to breathe fresh air. When people sing, they are exercising all over the body, just like doing aerobics, which makes the whole body unobstructed, can make the inhibition and excitation of cerebral cortex reach a relative balance, and the regulation of blood flow and nerve function is in a good state.”
At the same time, the elderly can also use singing to adjust their mood. For the elderly, singing can promote brain health care. When singing, more than 80% of the nerve cells participate in brain activities, which helps to improve people’s memory and expression ability. Of course, brain health plays an important role in prolonging life. Singing also promotes the brain to secrete endorphin, a “happiness hormone” that can relieve pain and boost mood.
